The challenge of being a Leader!

Today I feel like sharing with you my latest AIESEC experience: being coordinator (OCP) on autumn recruitment . Believe me when I say though that no story compares to the real fact.

No matter how many times you have heard people talking about what they’ve been through, what challenges they’ve faced or how many walls they have climbed, it will always be unexpected, frightening, exciting and exhausting to actually live every little detail.

When you see somebody else coordinating a project you might be temped to say that it is not that hard or that challenging. Yet, behind the curtain lays the actors, the smallest things that can assure the success or the failure of your work. Every detail has a purpose and every action has its consequences.
During this recruitment I lived the most various and contradictory feelings. There was always something intense and out of the blue that changed the color of the day from gray to white, from green to blue, from yellow to red. Every hour was another painting with other landscapes, other faces, other variables.

You may wonder what have I gained from all this. Nothing material I can assure you, although I am richer than a while ago and craving for similar experiences. You may believe me or not but challenging yourself is the best thing that you can do.
Things might not always be the way you want them to be, expectations might not be entirely fulfilled, but in the end nobody can take from you that part that changed, the things that became small pieces of yourself, the knowledge and the colors that painted your heart.

And do not forget that no matter what you do there will always be critics…but also praises.

Eu vreau mai mult. Dar tu?

Povestea mea a început simplu, într-o obişnuită zi de octombrie, într-o sală de seminar, când patru tineri au venit să ne vorbească despre organizaţia din care făceau parte, intitulată AIESEC.

Iniţial informaţiile lansate m-au făcut să mă întreb ”Bun. Şi ce vor de la noi? Ce putem face noi în această organizaţie?”
Treptat însă incertitudinea a lăsat locul unor alte semtimente. Pe măsură ce cuvintele lor au relevat mai mult din experienţa şi realizările lor în AIESEC, am început să mă gândesc că şi eu vreau mai mult de la mine, că vreau să fac facultate dar vreau să mă provoc şi pe mine să am parte de realizările lor şi cândva să stau eu în locul unde stau ei acum.



Şi astfel am spus ”Da” când au întrebat ”Vrei să completezi un formular?” şi ”Da” la propria întrebare ”Vreau mai mult de la mine?”.

A trecut un an de atunci, 12 luni în care pot spune că nu am regretat niciodată răspunsul dat. Am fost în conferinţe de pregătire, mi-am făcut prieteni în China, Ucraina, USA, Slovacia, Olanda şi încă îmi lărgesc reţeaua de contacte, am făcut parte din comitetul de organizare al unui proiect şi al unei conferinţe, mi-am îmbunătăţit cunoştinţele de PC, am învăţat să lucrez în echipă, să îmi organizez mai bine timpul, am văzut cum se desfăşoară un proces de selecţie şi am luat parte la el, iar lista poate continua.

În prezent sunt coordonatorul unui proiect şi mă provoc pe mine să vreau mai mult, iar AIESEC mă provoacă să reuşesc pentru că numai eu pot decide cât de mult vreau să cresc.

Dar asta este povestea mea. La mine totul a început cu un ”DA”. Dar tu? Vrei mai mult de la tine?

20 de ţări în doar câteva ore

Ucraina, Slovacia, Rusia, Spania, Turcia, Olanda, India, Egipt, Japonia, China...sunt doar câteva din ţările prin care am avut plăcerea să călătoresc în doar câteva ore şi pe măsura bugetului,

adică gratuit :)!

M-am pierdut în misterele Egiptului, am pătruns în controversata lume a gheişelor, am savurat mâncarea chinezească, am admirat eleganţa englezilor şi spiritul provocator al spaniolilor, am traversat Grecia şi Franţa în doar câteva minute, rătăcindu-mă apoi pe străzile întortocheate ale Marocului, pentru ca în clipa următoare să mă aflu într-o pizzerie italiană. Şi toate astea fără bagaje, înghesuială sau paşaport! Hmmm....sună bine nu?!

Aventura nu se opreşte însă aici. După o pizza şi nişte paste veritabile am cunocsut Ucraina, Slovacia, SUA, Iordania şi Olanda alături de Olya, Andreea, Queeny, Wesam, Neils şi Danny. Poze, conversaţii, muzică şi dans tradiţionale, lecţii de olandeză, rusă, arabă, şi, cum era de aşteptat, multă distracţie.

La sfârşitul zilei am putut spune că în mai puţin de 5 ore am hoinărit prin 20 de ţări doar cu o geantă pe umăr şi acompaniată de ritmurile pe cât de antrenante pe atât de variate ale muzicii.

Şi acum să vedem...aţi ghicit? Şi nu, nu vă testez atenţia! Este vorba despre Global Village-ul organizat de AIESEC Piteşti, duminică, 19 iulie, în incinta Jupiter City, în cadrul căruia elevi din liceele din Piteşti au adus într-un singur loc câte o rază din soarele fiecărei ţări!

Spune-mi, tu câte ţări poţi vizita într-o singură zi? ;)

Global Village in Pitesti,

gazduit de AIESEC Pitesti in parteneriat cu Jupiter City.

Pentru a doua oara, Pitestiul va fi gazda evenimentului "Global Village" organizat de AIESEC Pitesti in parteneriat cu Jupiter City, duminica, 19 iulie ora 16:00.

"Global Village" este creat ca o continuare a proiectului "Summer School", grupe de copii, reprezentand diferite tari din lume, au lucrat cateva saptamani pentru un stand de prezentare, o costumatie specifica, mancare traditionala din aceea tara, dar si o prezentare virtuala a tarii.

Evenimentul va avea loc in data de 19 iulie, ora 16:00 in complexul “Jupiter City”. Cei participanti vor avea ocazia sa explore 20 de culturi din toata lumea, de a gusta mancaruri exotice, de a descoperi noi lucruri despre tarile prezente, dar si de a face cunostiinta cu straini din diferite colturi ale lumii.

Eveniment sustinut de Kiss FM si Zile si Nopti.

First training, first impressions!

Every new thing, every new opportunity has to have a beginning. A moment when your feet are trembling, your voice starts to become dim and your heart races as if your fears are running through your blood. But those are actually just an exaggerated perception of the overwhelming emotions.

You might be wondering what I am really talking about. Well, my beginning, my first training, spread its wings in a beautiful morning of July, and I found myself, along with Olya, a trainee from Ukraine, in front of twenty people eager to learn, to get involved. I felt happy and scared at the same time. Yet, seeing their enthusiasm, their smile, and Olya’s relaxed attitude I realized that my fears are drown by the eagerness to start, to work and learn with them.

It was indeed a wonderful experience that I can’t wait to repeat. I am even happier since, beside the fact that I broke a few barriers that held me back, we (Olya and I) made the training a success and left the participant with something to remember. And nothing compares with the feeling that, at the end of the day, you can look back and say “I was part of that! I managed to overcome my fears and give the best of me! And, guess what? It turn out really great!”
